Let’s Get Started

Life passes so fast. In the blink of an eye our high school fun and antics are almost 50 years old. In our minds we may still be in our teens, but the mirror tells a different tale. Many of us look back at our high school years with fond memories and nostalgia. They are a part of what made us who we are today.

With that in mind, we are interested in having a get together in 2021 for a 50th reunion celebration.

But it is only 2019 you say, why are you contacting us now? Because planning a successful reunion takes a lot of work and planning (just ask Patty Cataldo Ardente, John Manning and Carol Schreiber who organized the last “Just Because Reunion” we had in 2009). And, we want to give our classmates who have moved out of state as much time as possible to prepare for a trip back home.

The first thing we need to do is get an updated Class Contact list. We are trying to get as many email addresses as possible to facilitate distribution of Reunion Communications. Email addresses are the preferred method of contact as the communication is free and immediate. (Cell phones or landlines would be a possible second method of communication.)

We will also use our existing Facebook class of 71 group.

Unfortunately we only have about 198 email addresses out of 574 living classmates. So, we need your help. If we don’t have your preferred current email address, use the CONTACT form on this site to let us know who you are and how to contact you.

  1. reunion committee,

When Mike first began this quest he asked for ideas for the event .
After giving it some thought i have a suggestion or two.

First let me refresh memories, the class of 71 was adventurous , cutting edge so to speak, while other classes had dances we had dances and events. Events like bowling day, swimming day, rollerskating day, where we all went out and had a great time. it is along this line of thought i would like to make a couple of suggestions. Yes, the 50 probably the biggest and most defiantly the last big one most of us will have a chance to see, or attend. 75 while big will be sparse.

so…. A dinner theater event, maybe with a kind of mystery involved, or a cruise around manhattan, or along the delaware , or along the ocean with a band and dancing, maybe a two day affair with a night at a venue we all know and love with a band (Jerry are you listening) we can get behind. then perhaps a picnic at Monmouth park, even sponsor a race the class of 71 stakes. yes it can be done I’ve done it with just a few friends and a little cash.I Another venue to explore Is the governors summer residence on island beach state park available for public use?

Memories await lets be creative, formal and stuffy is not the class of 1971’s MO

  2. Dear Vita,
First, let me thank you for taking on this very difficult task. I can volunteer to assist if you need help. I recently retired from a 40 year teaching career so I have been engaged in a fair share a planning for events. This is very challenging because everyone is scattered and many do not use social media. I envision the event in a hotel where people are encouraged to spend the night, so we are not dealing with drinking and driving etc, in the Month of January where venues are less expensive. Where in NJ this happens is not important since everyone is so scattered. South Jersey would be fun, someplace like Asbury Park would have great deals, and of course many are huge fans of Atlantic City. I am one to go with the flow however… you could suggest a week in Paris and that would be fine with me too…..

    Take care,
    Laura McDonald (Krampetz)

PS the last reunion was great as well, no criticisms from me!
